From our CEO

2023 in review – CEO reflections

As we enter the beginning of an exciting new year, it brings me immense joy to share the incredible journey of Yateley Industries For The Disabled Limited over the past twelve months. 2023 has been a year of growth, resilience and above all, coloured by the spirit of community. Here are a few of our highlights:

🤝 New Partnerships:

We are proud to have cultivated new partnerships that align with our mission of empowerment and inclusivity. Together, we’re building bridges to a brighter future.

👥 Team Growth:

Our team has expanded! We now employ 60 talented disabled staff and have doubled our support staff from six to twelve! This reflects our commitment to providing meaningful employment opportunities and fostering a nurturing environment.

🏗️ Regeneration in Full Swing:

From a supported factory redecoration to the revitalisation of our green space, the creation of new community areas, and the anticipation of a reopening Community Cafe – our regeneration projects have transformed Yateley into a hub of vitality.

🙌 Volunteer Power:

A heartfelt thank you to all of the volunteers who tirelessly run our community pantry and to the hundreds of one-day volunteers who have contributed to refreshing our 3-acre site. Your dedication has not only saved us £££’s but has also enriched the soul of our community.

📢 Amplifying Our Voice:

We’ve proudly raised the profile of Yateley Industries through the vibrant world of social media, delivering engaging talks, impactful radio appearances and numerous networking events. Together, we’re reaching new audiences and creating new opportunities.

🌈 The Power of Community:

This year, we witnessed the true essence of community. From creating new community spaces to the overwhelming support during challenging times, it’s a testament to the strength that lies within our collective spirit.

🎉 Events Galore:

Events have returned to Yateley Industries, both small and large, with many more to come. The Late Summer Social was a massive success, setting the stage for the return of our legendary Summer Fete in 2024, thanks to the support of local WI groups.

💰 Fundraising Milestones:

In 2023, fundraising became a cornerstone of Yateley Industries. With a brand-new function, we’re gearing up for an even more impactful 2024. The community’s support will be the driving force behind our continued success.

🌺 Remembering Alice:

Last year, we bid an emotional farewell to a dear friend and resident, Alice. While her presence is deeply missed, her spirit lives on in the ongoing regeneration that she, too, was a part of.

🌈 Social Revival:

Social activities have returned, bringing about a remarkable change for our disabled staff and residents. The warmth and joy of shared moments are back and the transformation is nothing short of remarkable.

📈 Job Coach Impact:

Our Job Coach service has relaunched, making a significant impact on-site. Looking ahead to 2024, we’re excited to extend our reach beyond our borders and continue making a positive difference to disabled people working out in the community.

📰 Newsletters and More:

From our first packed newsletter in December to the anticipation of reopening the Community Cafe in early 2024, the year has been a tapestry of activity, fun and progress.

🎤 Overachieving Together:

In April 2023, when I was giving a talk about our regeneration plans for the year, an audience member remarked, “If you achieve even half of that, you’ll do well.” The truth is, we’ve overachieved on all our goals for 2023 and none of it would be possible without the collective efforts of our growing team and the support of our community and partners.

Here’s to a phenomenal year behind us and an even brighter one ahead. Thank you for being an integral part of our journey and hopefully I’ll see you in our new café for a catch up.
